Key Takeaways
- In Singapore, ChatGPT Plus and Claude Pro both list at S$30 a month, but Claude’s annual billing brings Pro down to S$25 a month (S$300 a year).
- ChatGPT is cheaper to start with: ChatGPT Go costs S$11 a month, while Claude has nothing between its free plan and Pro. ChatGPT Free and Go may show ads.

Claude vs ChatGPT is no longer just about which AI writes better. For many Singaporeans, it’s now a budgeting decision. Anthropic, which opened a Singapore office in October 2026, says Singapore ranks second of 121 countries for Claude.ai usage relative to its population. PwC’s Hopes and Fears 2026 survey found 74% of Singapore workers polled had used AI at work in the past year.

ChatGPT Subscription Plans in Singapore
OpenAI supports Singapore-dollar billing for web subscriptions, though existing subscriptions stay in their original currency. Individual plans are billed monthly, with no annual discount.
ChatGPT Free (S$0)
The free plan includes unlimited text chats with GPT-6, subject to OpenAI’s abuse guardrails, plus limited uploads, image creation, voice chats, deep research and memory. Since 23 September 2026, OpenAI has shown ads in Singapore to Free and Go users.
ChatGPT Go (S$11/month)
Go is OpenAI’s budget tier. It adds more messages with tools, more uploads, more image creation, more voice chats and longer memory. Like Free, it may show ads.
ChatGPT Plus (S$30/month)
Plus is the standard paid plan. It’s ad-free and adds advanced reasoning with GPT-6, expanded deep research, and higher usage limits. It also has expanded Codex usage (OpenAI’s coding agent) and ChatGPT Work on desktop, web and mobile. Limits vary by model and feature; check your usage dashboard for your current allowance. Personal plans can no longer create new custom GPTs, and OpenAI plans to retire custom GPTs on 11 December 2026.
ChatGPT Pro (From S$138/month)
This subscription plan is built for heavy research and coding. It comes in three usage tiers, priced at US$100, US$200, and US$500 a month in the US, and adds Pro reasoning powered by GPT-6 Astra, longer Codex and ChatGPT Work sessions, and Dot, an always-on agent rolling out gradually. In late September 2026, OpenAI added the US$500 tier and reduced the included allowance for new US$200 subscriptions. Eligible existing Pro 200 subscribers keep their previous allowance up to 29 October 2026.
Pros: The cheapest paid entry point (Go), image creation on every plan and a generous free tier.
Cons: Ads on Free and Go, and no annual discount on individual plans.
Claude Pricing: Free, Pro and Max Plans
Anthropic’s Singapore pricing page lists local prices that include 9% GST. Claude’s Free, Pro and Max plans have usage limits that reset every five hours, and Pro and Max also have weekly limits.
Claude Free (S$0)
The free plan gives you Claude’s Sonnet and Haiku models, plus web search, file creation, code execution, memory and app connectors. Anthropic positions Free for everyday questions and Pro for everyday work.
Claude Pro (S$30/month or S$300/year)
Pro costs S$30 a month, or S$25 a month when you pay S$300 upfront for a year, which saves S$60. It gives you more usage per session than Free (at least five times as much, according to Anthropic’s pricing page), plus Opus models, Research, Projects, Claude in Chrome and Claude for Microsoft 365. It also includes Claude Code, Anthropic’s coding tool, which draws from the same usage pool as your chats.
Claude Max (From S$149.99/month)
Max is for people who work with Claude all day. Max 5x costs S$149.99 a month for five times Pro’s usage per session, while Max 20x costs more (US$200 a month in the US). Both are billed monthly and add higher output limits, priority access at busy times and access to Fable, Claude’s most capable model, for up to 50% of weekly limits. Max also includes monthly API credits for building on the Claude Platform; these don’t cover extra usage in Claude chats or interactive Claude Code sessions.
Pros: An annual discount on Pro and Claude Code in every paid plan.
Cons: No budget tier between Free and Pro, no photo or illustration generation and usage-based limits that make it hard to predict how much you will get.
Claude Pro vs ChatGPT Plus: Which S$30 Plan Wins?
These are the two plans most people will weigh up. Here’s how they compare:
| Feature | ChatGPT | Claude |
|---|---|---|
| Plan | Plus | Pro |
| Monthly price | S$30 | S$30 |
| Annual billing | Not offered | S$300 a year (S$25 a month) |
| Usage limits | Vary by model and feature; current allowance shown in the product | More than Free per five-hour session, plus weekly limits |
| Top models | Advanced reasoning with GPT-6 | Opus included; Fable only with paid usage credits |
| Image creation | Included | Diagrams and charts only; no photos or illustrations |
| Coding tool | Codex (expanded usage) | Claude Code |
| Context window | Chat: up to 256K tokens for reasoning; Work and Codex limits vary by model | Up to 1M tokens, depending on the model |
Neither plan wins outright.
Claude Pro is the better deal if you can commit to a year, work with long documents or want Claude Code for programming.
ChatGPT Plus suits you better if you want image creation and an all-in-one assistant on a month-to-month plan.
ChatGPT Business vs Claude Team: Price per Seat
For small businesses, ChatGPT costs less per seat. Both plans let you mix standard and premium seats, and both say they don’t train on business data by default.
| Price per seat | ChatGPT Business | Claude Team |
|---|---|---|
| Standard, billed annually | S$25/month | S$30/month |
| Standard, billed monthly | S$32/month | S$38/month |
| Premium, billed annually | S$125/month | S$150/month |
| Premium, billed monthly | S$160/month | S$188/month |
| Team size | 2 to 200 | 2 to 150 |
ChatGPT Business Premium offers five times Standard’s usage and removes the five-hour limit. Claude Team Premium offers five times Standard’s per-session allowance, with weekly limits still applying. Larger firms can choose Claude Enterprise (US$20 per seat a month, billed annually, 20-seat minimum, plus usage) or ask OpenAI for a ChatGPT Enterprise quote.
Hidden Costs Before You Pay for ChatGPT or Claude
The price on the card isn’t always what you pay. Check these factors first.
1. Card Fees on Payments Processed Overseas
Paying in SGD doesn’t guarantee zero fees. OCBC, for example, charges 1% on SGD transactions made with its Visa and Mastercard credit cards when they are processed overseas. Check your card’s terms, see how merchant category codes affect your rewards and consider unlimited cashback cards that count subscriptions.
2. App Store Pricing
App store subscriptions can be priced differently from web ones: Anthropic says its listed Max prices are for web subscriptions only and that mobile pricing may vary by platform. Compare both before you subscribe.
3. Extra Usage
When you hit a limit, Claude’s paid plans let you turn on extra usage billed at API rates (separate from Max’s API credits). On ChatGPT, Plus and Pro users can buy credits for eligible features such as Codex and ChatGPT Work, and Business workspaces can too, but credits don’t remove every limit. Set a monthly spending cap before enabling extra usage. If a charge is in US dollars, a suitable multi-currency card may reduce foreign-transaction costs; check its exchange rate and any conversion fees.
4. Shared or Resold Accounts
Cheap “shared” accounts sold on online marketplaces are risky: you could lose access at any time, and others may see your chats. Both OpenAI’s and Anthropic’s terms bar users from sharing account access. Read our guide to common scams in Singapore before buying.
Claude vs ChatGPT: Which Plan Fits You?
There is no single winner. Match the plan to how you will use it:
- Occasional questions: Either free plan.
- Tight budget, but you need more than Free: ChatGPT Go at S$11 a month.
- Long documents and coding: Claude’s Pro plan, ideally on annual billing at S$25 a month.
- Image creation and general use: ChatGPT Plus at S$30 a month.
- All-day heavy use: Both are comparable. ChatGPT Pro (from S$138 a month) or Claude Max (from S$149.99 a month).
- Students: Check your university first. NUS has offered ChatGPT Edu to all its students, faculty and staff since 31 August 2026.
- Small teams: ChatGPT Business costs less per seat, while Claude Team suits teams that rely on Claude Code.
The Bottom Line
At the standard tier, the Claude vs ChatGPT price gap disappears: both list at S$30 a month. ChatGPT is cheaper to start with and for teams, while Claude is cheaper if you commit to a year of Pro.
If you want to be extra certain, why not try both free plans first, then budget for your pick like any other “want” using the 50/30/20 rule? If you’re yaying by card, compare credit cards that reward online spend, and see our streaming services comparison to trim your other subscriptions.
Prices are as shown on OpenAI’s and Anthropic’s Singapore pricing pages on 21–22 October 2026, with US-dollar figures marked US$. Prices may change.
